Kendra Norman-Bellamy’s A Love So Strong

So this book is a few years old, but I wanted to review it anyway. This is Kendra Norman-Bellamy’s A Love so Strong. It’s one of the few romance novels where the couple is already married from the beginning. Yet, it is still very romantic. The husband Brian is really something special. He really loves his wife Nicole and it comes through in every way. Of course a wrench is thrown into their marriage, but both deal with it as graciously as possible. The book is a little predictable, but its so cute you can’t find fault with it.

One thing I really enjoyed about the book was that the couple had such strong ties to their church and to their community. They didn’t go through the trial alone, their church family was there the whole time praying, supporting, and loving them through it. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Dana Pratola’s The Covering

The Covering was a fun book. That may sound weird since it deals with such serious topics, but honestly I became so engrossed in the novel and just enjoyed the story. It starts off with Tessa interceding for someone, but she doesn’t know who. And then he shows up on the scene. Gunnar is great. He’s obviously hurting, being hounded by demons, but still he is a great character. The tension between the characters was intense and I so enjoyed them that for days I would pick up my kindle and just reread parts.

One of the best things I like about this book is that it exemplifies the power of prayer. I like that Tessa literally prayed her husband into the kingdom of God. The Covering itself relates to the idea that someone’s prayers can cover, or protect you. Tessa wasn’t the first one praying for Gunnar, but her prayers were still needed. What a great point. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Pratola writes next.

Dani Pettrey’s Submerged

Submerged is my kind of mystery. Not too many details where I’m feeling lost, but enough details to keep you in suspense. I felt that the villains really acted as villians which is not always the case in some books. A little dose or two of reality is always good in a book. Not to mention great characters and a good story. Throughout the novel I just kept wondering whose story would be next (I’m assuming its a series) because I didn’t want to close the book on such an interesting family. The romance between Bailey and Cole was sweet and heart-warming, and it was one of those books where you can just imagine the couple riding into the sunset (or white picket fence, two kids and a dog…take your pick).

Spiritually, the author dealt with forgetting one’s past and moving on with one’s future. A lesson we all can learn. Lord knows I have said and done things that I regret, but thank you Lord for your grace. I’m looking forward to the next book by Ms. Pettry, hopefully we won’t have to wait long!

Becky Wade’s My Stubborn Heart

I thought I would start off this blog right; with a book that touched my heart and mind and had me thinking about it for days. My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade. Oh. My. Goodness. She had me from the first page. Have you ever had that feeling when you read a book that says “no matter what she writes, I will buy it!” Well, this is one of those (due to the fact that I read soooo many books, I try to only buy from my favorite authors…which is like 50 people).

So what is so great about My Stubborn Heart? The heroine is normal and totally relatable while the hero…can I just say I loved the way he loved her in this book? I loved the heroine’s interaction with God. Christianity is about relationship and you could see it in this book. So shout out to Ms. Wade, I can’t wait to see what you write next!
